Local author book signing at library

Patty Rodgers book signing—The library is holding a book signing for cancer survivor and Florence author Patty Rodgers, author of All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Tattoos.  The event is on October 11 at 10:00 a.m.  There are plenty of opportunities to have your book signed and perhaps have a personal chat with Ms. Rodgers.  Other local book signing dates will be published in the Main Street News—or visit Ms. Rodger’s My Two Tattoos website at

Library Raffle—As you pass by the library front window, you may notice a menagerie of unique and interesting items.  Did you know that you might have a chance to own one of these wonderful treasures?  Tickets will be sold beginning mid-September for $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00.  The tentative raffle end date is set for the evening of December 15.

Tell your friends—September is Library Card Sign Up Month.  If you know a bookworm new to the area, please tell him or her about our library.  Library cards are free and it’s simple and painless to sign up.

Open to the Public—The Florence library board of directors meet once a month on the fourth Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.  All visitors and/or those wishing to join the Friends of the Library are welcome.  The next meeting is September 23 at the library.

Movie Night—Another library movie night is in the works.  Keep a sharp lookout for details here in the Main Street News.

Our normal business hours now include the first and third Saturdays of each month.  In September, our Saturday hours are September 13 and 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The schedule for October is 10/4/08 and 10/18/08.

The next library holiday closing is Columbus Day, Monday, October 13, 2008.
